My opportunity to study and professionally train as a clinical psychologist came unexpectedly and started from a sense of despondency with my former career in the corporate world. I made the decision to pursue my interest in psychological science, with a thirst for knowledge as my motivation. Fortunately, the study of psychology has led me to a career that allows me to continue to explore new research insights while meeting and assisting people from all walks of life to improve their well-being.

Advice in seeking help:
Most people expect that when consulting a psychologist they are talking to an expert who has the knowledge and training to help in an effective way. Certainly, it is important to choose a psychologist who is appropriately credentialed, endorsed and has a high degree of training. That said it is my experience that most people understand that working with a psychologist is an interpersonal process and thus feeling comfortable to discuss difficult experiences is vital for therapy to be effective. In fact decades of research indicates that the nature of the therapeutic relationship between a client and psychologist is a significant factor in therapeutic outcomes. The emerging picture of research suggests that the quality of the client–therapist alliance is a reliable predictor of positive clinical outcome independent the type of psychotherapy approaches.

In my practice it is of utmost importance that any client who chooses to consult my service makes an informed decision that I am the right Clinical Psychologist for them. Ultimately however you will make this decision by first calling me and discussing my suitability. During initial consultation it is important for me to illustrate the value of this service so you can make an informed decision and commitment to a therapeutic process. If after meeting me you do not think that I am the right fit for you, then please exercise your right to change to another practitioner. In fact, I will endeavour to help you do this and if you choose suggest alternative practitioners for you.
